What we offer
Would you like your child to understand the world through active exploration, hands-on workshops or interest-led learning? if so, read on...
An emulsion of science and building and useful skills, served with mathematical hoola-hoops in a fun gravy.
Develop your own idea with paints, saws, soldering irons, wax, lego or metal and imagination. Explore current technology by travelling back 10,000 years and then slowly moving forward to the present. |
Future Plans (2014)
FUTURE PLANS
In 2014 we plan to start a democratic learning space in the Stroud area for he children, flexi schoolers and those who want more for their children than the state alternatives provide. Each school day will be decided by the children present. They will begin this process with an understanding of what is on offer and any constraints to their planning (i.e. there cannot be more activities which require supervision going on concurrently than there are adults to supervise.) Using this a timetable will be drawn up for the day. Activities available: Interest led learning, woodland exploration, workshops, play.
Rational for democratic learning system:
Rational for Interest led learning: Every child must find an an area where they excel before they begin to explore compulsory education; Interest led learning allows a child space, material and time to do this (click here for video about democratic learning). For the majority of our lives we are outside the walls of a classroom, with no one to tell us what we should know or learn.... we must learn to be our own guides! (reliance on authority leads to children being unable to explore for them selves.)
